ISPM 15 in Luxembourg
ISPM 15 is the international standard for wood packaging in world trade. It exists to stop pests travelling from one continent to another inside packaging timber. For you it comes down to this: for certain destinations the wood has to be treated and marked. We do both ourselves.
When you need it
- China, Australia, New Zealand
- yes
- Inside the EU
- no
For China, Australia and New Zealand, always. For other third countries it depends on the destination. Put it in your request and we will tell you.
Frequently asked
Does my consignment to China need an IPPC mark?
Yes. China, Australia and New Zealand require ISPM 15 treated timber with a valid IPPC mark. We may apply it, registration number 079.
And inside the EU?
No ISPM 15 treatment is required there. Where needed, the mark replaces the plant passport.
Can you repair our used pallets?
Yes, and we mark them again afterwards, as the standard requires.

What else you need to know about the mark
- We treat and mark in our own yard. Registration number 079, treatment code HT. No second company involved, no extra wait.
- The mark goes on two opposite sides so that it stays visible inside the container. It is permanent and may not be moved from one crate to another.
- It applies to solid wood from 6 mm upwards. Plywood, OSB and other engineered panels need no treatment.
- No red, no orange: those two colours are reserved for dangerous goods.
- A pallet that is repaired or re-used has to be marked again. Every single component must be treated.
- Inside the EU you need no ISPM 15 treatment. Where a plant passport is required, the mark takes its place.
